Just because something is not "mentioned on this page" does
not mean that it is not covered under the basic rule.
Failure to read and/or abide by the rules page does not exempt you
from being bound by it.
The Ops (the people with the "@" by their names) are the
final interpreters of the rule and
clarifications. Making a big stink -- either in open channel or private
message -- about something you feel was applied unfairly will get you
kickbanned even if you weren't part of the original problem.
If you question whether disciplinary action was applied fairly, capture
a log of the events with all necessary information (people involved,
etc.) and post it -- with a brief explanation of why you think it
was applied unfairly -- to the complaints
forum. Complaints without logs are considered invalid and will
be ignored.
The Ops have a certain amount of authority over other guests in #Sanguinarius.
If you have problems with authority, either get over it if you wish
to visit my channel or go somewhere else. Authority does not equal fascism
or abuse.
Ops are the channel managers for a reason -- just as in the workplace,
if an Op tells you to do something, you need to do it. If you don't
like it, there's plenty of channels to visit other than this one.
No telling the Ops how to do their jobs.
Do not attempt to engage the Ops in a game of "Op vs. Op",
or "Sangi vs. Op(s)". That is manipulation and won't be tolerated.
"Sangi is here and she didn't say anything" is not a valid
reason/excuse for anything. I may be signed on, and I may or may not
be "physically" present. Or I may be watching and not commenting,
just to see what people say and do when they think I'm not paying attention.
You never know. A current state of inaction or passivity on my part
at one point does not negate the possibility that I may take action
later, nor does it express or imply my approval or disapproval in some
matter.
Vampire support topics/questions take precedence over idle chatter.
The official language for the channel is English. If you can speak and/or
type English, please do so in the channel.
No whining about channel policies. If you don't like the way #Sanguinarius
is run, you are free to leave and/or start your own channel.
No insults, being rude, or general picking on people.
No trolling, name-calling, starting fights, etc.
Hijacking or sabotaging a topic of conversation or monopolizing the
channel so that you are the center of attention is considered disruptive
behavior and will not be tolerated.
Tourette's Syndrome is NOT an excuse for bad attitudes, foul language
and/or insulting behavior. We ARE familiar with the real symptoms, and
they do not affect your typing.
No racism or bigotry will be tolerated.
No bashing people's religion-of-choice -- freedom of religion means
ANY religion.
No roleplaying -- if you're looking for a V:TM room, try #vampirehall
instead.
No soap opera behavior. / No discussion of astral sex/babies/relationships.
No a/s/l requests -- don't get upset if you "asl" an individual
or the whole room anyway, and they get mad at you or only give you sarcastic
responses.
Internet typing shortcuts, "leetspeak" (l337$p34k), and "shouting"
are discouraged. There is a difference between acronyms (examples: LMAO,
wb, lol, etc.), and internet typing shortcuts (examples: y r u here,
whut u doin, r u 4 real, etc.) and leetspeak (examples: l337$p34k, haxx0r,
I R t3h 1337357 fux0r in t3h p14c3!, j00 R 411 bi7chz0rz, etc.). TYPING
IN ALL CAPS (LIKE THIS) or AlTeRnAtInG CaPs (LiKe ThIs), are also strongly
discouraged; it is considered shouting, bad netiquette, and is rude
and unnecessary. Each of these styles of typing is hard to read, hard
to understand, and don't be surprised if you get yelled at or kicked
out of the channel for doing them.
No cybersex / looking for sex partners / explicit sex talk / heavy
flirting / pr0n.
No ban evasion or other circumventions of rules. You'll only keep
getting thrown out, so why bother coming back if you're banned?
No discussing the dubious pleasures of illegal drugs or where to get
same.
No offensive nicks. If an op asks you to change your nick, then it's
considered offensive.
If you expect to be away from the keyboard for more than about an hour,
please alter your nick to show that you are afk (away from keyboard),
eg. Nick_sleeping, Nick_out, Nick_afk, etc. If you do not do this,
you are likely to get kicked for being idle.
Channel takeover attempts, flooding, bot cloning, and other things
generally frowned upon in the *sensible* IRC world are also not allowed
here.
Unauthorized bots are not welcome in #Sanguinarius.
All links posted in open channel MUST have a REAL description. Links
posted must be "work-safe" ("sfw") / "school-safe".
If you post a pr0n, obscene, explicit, or discriminatory link, don't
be surprised if you're kicked or even banned from the room. If there're
going to be popups at the site, a warning is appreciated, but not required.
Things like fansites or official sites for music bands, keep in mind
not everyone is going to (1) read the URL or (2) recognize the name
even if they do, particularly if they're in a different country from
you.
"Work safe" in a description implies NO nudity, pr0n or anything
else of an explicit sexual nature.
Examples:
Good Description Examples:
"Flash movie with the dancing cats lip-synching to music"
"Website about someone's silly experiment with the Sims game"
"Latest Yeti & Penguin game, needs flash, has blood & guts"
"Tutorial on how to breakdance"
"Today's <comic name> comic strip - work safe"
Bad Description Examples:
"This is a cool site" (Cool for one person is
not necessarily cool for another)
"Has a movie" (Flash? quicktime? WinMedia? RealPlayer?
What's it about?)
"it's a game" (What sort of game? What's needed
to run it?)
"Latest news" (News about what? What site? Potential
flamebait?)
"That's strange" (If "strange" = "perverted"
we don't want to see it)
"Funny stuff" (Doesn't mean it's funny to everyone)
Be patient:
Don't get angry because nobody says anything in a few minutes -- just because
you said "hi" immediately doesn't mean other people are
paying rapt attention to the screen. Some hours of the day are known
for having 15 people idling and only 1 or 2 actually awake but only
paying sporadic attention. If the time of day or night you happened
to arrive at seems dead, try again in a few hours.
